Questions & Answers
What will the Grant Line Construction Aggregate Production and Recycling Facility produce?
The Grant Line Construction Aggregate Production and Recycling Facility (or “Grant Line Facility”) will produce asphalt and ready-mix concrete for local construction and infrastructure projects. In addition, the facility will recycle used concrete and asphalt and sell raw aggregate, all essential components in big and small construction and infrastructure projects.
Will this facility affect traffic in Elk Grove?
This facility is located in an established industrial zone of the City, near Highway 99, to minimize traffic impacts on surface streets. The vast majority of the material produced from this facility will travel along Grant Line Road and Highway 99 to reach project sites and construction zones.
Will this facility bring jobs into the City?
The Grant Line Facility will support approximately 100 direct and indirect jobs during facility construction and full-time production.
Will this facility comply with local, state, and federal air, noise, odor, safety, and environmental regulations?
At the Grant Line Facility and at all Vulcan facilities, we work with land managers, geologists, engineers, hydrologists, cultural resources specialists, and both elected and community representatives to ensure our sites meet or exceed all local, state, and federal regulations. Vulcan is a known industry leader in safety, health, and environmental stewardship, and the Grant Line Facility will continue this tradition of stewardship and compliance.
Will traffic in and out of the facility take into account existing bike lanes, bikers, pedestrians, and the safety of passing vehicles?
Yes. All trucks entering and exiting the Grant Line Facility will stage within the facility gates, ensuring that existing bike lanes and vehicle lanes remain clear and open to passing traffic. To ensure that trucks can easily see bikers, pedestrians, and passing vehicles, we plan to maintain low vegetation and landscaping at the Facility entrance. We also closely monitor any material that may be tracked out of the facility, and are committed to clearing any track-out on an ongoing basis.
